Choose a template, with an embodied preliminary settings list.
Currently, we will not use any template option, as all the settings are
stored in the localization package. How to create the templates will be
examined at the TS professional course. At the introduction course, there
is no need to apply the templates. Templates are mostly relevant when creating
documentation sets for several manufacturers on the condition there are
differences in the document layouts. Thus it is possible to indicate separate
settings for tables, reports, and samplings for each specific customer.
4. Choose the model type:
Single-user regime
– allows working only to one user.
Simultaneously access to the model in the single-user regime provides
limited rights to the second user which is available to only viewing the
model, with no access to editing it and saving any changes.
The single-user regime is recommended if you do not plan simultaneous
Using this regime is reasonable when complex renumbering processes are
performed, involving updating a large number of components (over 100 000
elements). Thus it ensures that no double work will be done due to a not
coordinated multi-user intrusion.
Multi-user regime
– allows several users simultaneously working over a project
and drawings.
While operating in the multi-user regime, make sure that the data synchronization
application is launched on at least one of the computers in the work chain.
This will allow avoiding errors in case all the users simultaneously proceed
to save the data: in this case, the system delivers the message: “
Model blocked USER NAME” and offers to perform saving the data later
on.
Also, this application eliminates collisions in case of simultaneous
modifications done over the same components. Thus modifications done by
the last user are available after saving. Data exchange with other users
is completed by pressing the “SAVE” button.
It is possible at any time to switch the single-user regime to the multi-user
Tekla Structures v21.1
Changing the model type is done by right-clicking on the project name
and by selecting the necessary regime in the drop-down menu.
Tekla Structures v2021
Changing the model type is done by preliminarily opening the project and
selecting the respective option from the main menu.
5. Choosing the server name is required only when operating a model in
the multi-user regime. It distinguishes the very computer, which monitors
simultaneous work of several users and prevents the simultaneous saving
of the updates. Changing the server name in the new TS interface is possible
only internally by the project users.
6. Switching to the multi-user regime at Trimble Connect is realized by
opening access to the model from different locations via the Internet (VPN
analog).
Create a single-user project (model) by setting up your last name in the
Tekla Model Sharing
represents a multiuser regime that allows simultaneously working
several users over a project and keeping data in the cloud storage. It
benefits the possibility to involve a large number of users in a project
and does not require any local network between them. Thus users can be
located at different offices and countries.
The present regime requires as follows:
Internet availability.
Cloud sharing license.
Registered accounts of the users at the developer's webpage.
Company's registered account. The company shall link the users'
accounts to its account network.
To start working at Tekla Model Sharing, log in to your account when running
the Tekla Structures. If cloud sharing is not required, skip on logging
in to your account.
When working with cloud storage, you can use the basic tools which allow
Thus there is the possibility to save the data locally using the standard
saving options. To save data and download it from the cloud, use other
tools, as presented below:
To minimize/maximize the model, make sure you have selected the required
Move your mouse cursor over any window point, and make it active by executing
a left-click on it. The selected work area window is framed in red
or yellow, depending on the TS version.
Minimizing or maximizing the model is done by scrolling the mouse wheel.
There are several methods to execute a model rotation in TS.
The first method stands for pointing out the rotation center. This is
the most recommended method for rotating a model, requiring a user to point
out the rotation center. It is commonly used, meanwhile, the other methods
are applied just when appropriate. The below algorithm describes
the steps to be carried out:
Make sure all operations are canceled or press the ESC key.
Select the required view by a left-click on it.
Use the CTRL+R keyboard shortcut in the following way: press and hold
down the CTRL key, subsequently, press the "R" key, and release
the both keys.
Point out the rotation center in the model. It is generally applied to
a joint. Click at any point of the joint and the pink round icon appears
on it, indicating the very rotation center chosen.

7. To cancel the rotation operation, press the ESC key.
It is important to mention that indicating the rotation center depends
on the current representation type of the parts, thus if an element( object)
is not transparent, then the rotation center is pointed out at the element’s
plane, otherwise at the work area plane.
The second method stands for pointing out the rotation center by pressing
the “V” key. This method is similar to the previous one,
just deploys a different hotkey combination.
Make sure all operations are canceled or press the ESC key.
Select the required view by a left-click on it.
Use the CTRL+R hotkey combination in the following way: press and hold
down the CTRL key, subsequently press the R key, and release them both.
Press the “V” key
Point out the model rotation center by a left click at the required point.
By holding down the CTRL key and mouse wheel button pressed, rotate the
model by moving the mouse cursor.
To cancel the rotation operation, press the ESC key
The third method does not require specifying the rotation center as it
uses the one previously indicated. This method is recommended to
be applied when editing the components, due to the fact that the component
dimensions are not huge, and pointing out the rotation center is of no
specific need.
Make sure all operations are canceled or press the ESC key.
Select the required view by a left-click on it.
By holding down the CTRL key and the mouse wheel button pressed, rotate
the model by moving the mouse cursor.
To cancel the rotation operation, press the ESC key.
The TS is available on many algorithms for creating views. In this chapter,
we will examine creating basic views of the model which are defined by
the axes OX, OY, OZ.
Set the current view to full-screen.
Tekla Structures v21.1
Tekla Structures v2021
Go to the “View” tab of the main menu bar.
Tekla Structures v21.1
Tekla Structures v2021
Select the “Create Basic View” tab, and in the dialog window
appeared, specify the “Plane” option as “XZ” (
in
the current case study this is the equivalent to the A-axis sectional
view of the building).
Press the “Create” button.
In the dialog window “Create Basic View” respecify the “Plane”
option as “ZY” (in the current case study this is the equivalent
to the 1-axis sectional view of the building).
Now
we have created several views, which can be arranged in various
ways. Try out using all the arrangements available by accessing the respective
menu tab, as shown below. The arrangement options available are cascade,
tile horizontally, tile vertically.
It is often required to look over a drawing in the view plane or in an
axis view, but it is quite difficult to rotate the view respectfully by
using the mouse scroll. Thus, to rotate the model view perpendicularly
to the eye gaze direction the following steps should be performed:
Make sure all operations are canceled or press the ESC key.
Select the required view by a left-click on it.
Press the Ctrl+P hotkey combination.
A repeatedly pressing the hotkey combination brings the model to the initial
position.
To cancel the rotation operation, press the ESC key.

to all the views which you created.
